Live event energises entire community

My objective of creating a platform to promote the very best of the region was achieved in some style on 4 October as Poppyland Radio hosted a glittering red-carpet Awards Gala Presentation Night. The nine month programme brought together local businesses, organisations, and individuals and culminated in an evening of celebration and inspiration.

Awards entries were nominated by the general public earlier this year and sent to a distinguished panel of VIP judges in the summer. The judges gave their time freely to scrutinise every nomination and draw up a shortlist of deserving finalists. In July the public voting opened and attracted thousands of votes to determine the winners in each category.

Guests to the thrilling Awards Gala Presentation Night were welcomed by the local MP, whose rousing address paid tribute to the exceptional talent and community spirit so clearly evident. From hundreds of nominations and thousands of public votes, nine award categories highlighted the breadth of excellence across of the entries.

Photographs and videos of the event were kindly captured by Andreas Yiasimi and Alan Palmer and the event attracted significant social media chatter and media coverage.

By the close of the evening, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as guests rose to celebrate all the finalists.

It was a timely reminder that we have heroes, inspirational leaders, dynamic entrepreneurs, talented experts and local treasures walking amongst us.
